Thesis Topic/Title:
Work-based Learning in Higher Education: Harnessing innovation through workplace collaboration

Description

The subject of globalisation through the impacts of social change, digitisation and the very nature of work will require Universities and the higher education sector more generally, to alter the traditional role universities play in educating future generations. The connection between higher education teaching and active research has become entrenched in the idea of what a university education is. Work-based Learning (WBL) in this context, is proposed as a learning strategy that encapsulates curriculum and the student experience with that of work or with industry in the partnership. WBL provides a strategic direction for the development of the economic and globally changing workforce by providing a broader, more trans-disciplinary context than traditional disciplinary learning.
